FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

HOW ARE YOU DIFFERENT FROM OTHER AGENCIES?

For employers, Major Recruitment offers a hybrid staffing and recruitment service where you can "audition" employees before committing to keep them. We also offer the option to outsource any of your recruitment activities, from single positions or your entire recruitment process. To accomplish a cost effective service for our employer clients we have come up with a pricing structure that should better represent your existing budget.

For job seekers, Major Recruitment should feel a lot like other recruitment agencies in terms of formal processes, however you should also feel confident that we are actively in your corner looking for your best match,  because we will only ever commit to candidates we believe have the right skills, attitude, and experience for the jobs we receive.

WHY USE AN AGENCY OVER EMPLOYER DIRECT RECRUITMENT?

Recruitment agencies are specialists at sourcing and placing candidates and can be considered like a type of matchmaker. We get to know you as the employer, find out your intentions, aspirations, and expectations and then look at our employee pool to make well informed matches. We are committed to making arrangements that last with people who have stellar characteristics and who are well suited to the position required.

Additionally, we can take the headache out of recruiting to reduce the amount of time and impacts to your HR and/or management teams’ productivity. We can do this for as little or as much of your workload as needed.

HOW DO YOU SOURCE CANDIDATES?

We use a range of sources to ensure we find every possible candidate. These sources include:

  • Web-based job boards

  • Resume databases;

  • Local and national media and advertising;

  • Business networks and referrals; and

  • Social media and the web

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE FOR YOU TO FIND SOMEONE?

It really depends on the type of role and the skills required. We have successfully placed candidates only hours after being advised of a vacancy, but at the other end of the spectrum, it can also take weeks for more specialised roles.

We understand the time pressure nature of community services and will work with you to set realistic deadlines and deliverables.

WHAT KIND OF ROLES DO YOU RECRUIT FOR?

We recruit for all types of roles usually found within community service organisations. This includes direct to client staff, administrators, finance workers, case managers, clinical and therapeutic specialists, managers, and corporate executives etc

HOW DOES YOUR SCREENING PROCESS WORK?

Typically we will cull the candidate list to two or three people who meet your criteria. This will depend on the brief from you however you can rest assured that every candidate we put in front of you has been through our rigorous screening process, which involves behavioural interviews, skills verification and reference checks.

THERE ARE SO MANY DIFFERENT STAGES IN THE RECRUITMENT PROCESS, WHAT PARTS DO YOU TAKE CARE OF EXACTLY?

We carry out the entire process, from the initial brief through to the contract of employment. The typical steps involved are:

  • The job description is prepared in conjunction with the client

  • Plans are made on how and where to advertise;

  • Applicants are short-listed;

  • References are requested & checked;

  • Candidates are invited for interviews and selection tests;

  • Successful candidates are culled to two or three preferred candidates and sent to the client;

  • Candidates are invited for interviews with the client.

  • The successful candidate is "auditioned" for a probationary three months.

  • If mutually agreeable, the candidate is offered the job at the end of the probationary period and signs the contract of employment.

  • The candidates recruitment file is transferred to the client.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I AM NOT SATISFIED WITH THE PERSON YOU RECRUIT?

We work hard to match candidates with employers, however we understand that like love not all matches are truly made in heaven.

We deliberately mitigate the "honey moon period" by "auditioning" a candidate during a probationary three months. At anytime during this period we can try another person to ensure we confidently have best suitability at the end of the period.

IS MAJOR RECRUITMENT A LOCAL OR NATIONAL AGENCY?

We mainly service the Melbourne metropolitan and surrounding areas including Geelong and other select regional towns. We are looking to expand further out including interstate in the near future.
